Amputed ring finger of an aspiring Engineering student was saved by plastic surgery ; Another success story.

An aspiring 4th year computer science student of Vincent Pallotti Engineering college, had an accident on 27-9-2016 at 9:30AM resulting in complete separation of right hand ring finger. He immediately reported at Sushrut Hospital and was attended by Senior orthopedic surgeon Dr Sudhir Babhulkar, who recognized the urgency and informed the Plastic Surgeons team at Sparsh Clinics, Tilak Nagar, Nagpur.
The team consisted of two Plastic Surgeons Dr Amol K Patel and Dr Shailesh Nisal and one anesthesiologist Dr Dwijen Roy. The procedure was started around 12:30PM and executed successfully by 3:30PM. Bone, tendon, nerve were repaired two digital arteries and two dorsal vein were anastomosed with 10-0 suture by microvascular surgery and blood circulation was re-established.
Ring finger of an aspiring computer engineering student is as important as the thumb of Ekalavya. Wound healing followed by physiotherapy will be needed for him to have a useful digit after successful re-plantation surgery.
